We stayed in an apartment, East Village B&B, which made us feel what if? we lived in the East Village. Margaret the innkeeper showed us the owner's collection of folk art, and she introduced me to the New York bagel smothered with cream cheese. There is no other experience on earth like it.

New York City
We made a short visit to New York City before heading up to New Hampshire for our friends Katie & Jarrod's wedding last month. When planning our trip, we discovered it was cheaper to fly into NYC than Boston, and then we thought, why not visit the city, stay an extra day, etc etc. Eventually, our stay in NYC cost more than any savings we made from the flight, but it was worth it! See more pics in our album.
We had a day and a half to explore. We caught up with some friends, visited the Empire State Building, ate hot dogs, and rode the subway.

Happy Belated Birthday DAN!!!
Carmen! I missed you! I was actually in NYC and NH the same time you guys were, I think...
I love the "E. Village B&B"... it's more like "I'm pimping my apartment out part-time to pay rent, tell the neighbors you are friends of mine"...
Fantastic!
Hi - you don't know me (obviously!) but my boyfriend and I are thinking of staying East Village B&B. I cant find any reviews on Trip Advisor etc and it would be great to know if you would recommend it. The photos looks nice! Would you say it's a good choice? Also, it seems far from the subway? Many thanks!
Hi! Would definitely recommend the East Village B&B. First of all, the price compared to quality was one of the best we found in NYC (includes breakfast--it's basically like an open kitchen--help yourself to anything that is there, any time of the day). It is not close to the subway--you have to take a bus from around the corner, which then takes you to the subway in about 5 minutes. This wasn't a problem for us, the transport system is pretty good. The B&B is in a great area too--you can easily walk to all the funky bars and cafes of the East Village, and we got the feeling of being in a proper neighborhood, rather then being in a big touristy area. And finally, the B&B itself is lovely, especially with all the funky art. I think they have free wireless/internet connection as well. Highly recommended by us--good luck with your planning!
just to say thanks! really nice of you to reply - and so quickly! good luck on your travels. bx
sorry, one more question! just thought of it. last one i promise! they are asking for payment up front, which we'll have to do by western union (we're in the uk...)did you have to do the same?? just not how you usally go about booking so wondering if it's okay!
ps. saw a photos of cupacakes on your blog. my obession when i'm in NY too!
Hey no problem! Yes, we did have to pay up front as well. I think this is fine--they were pretty professional about it all. I didn't need to transfer money though( western union should be fine for you), because I have a bank account in the US and could therefore write a US cheque for them....Good luck with your trip planning!
hey again - just to say thank you! especially for getting back to me so quickly, twice! happy travels. b
Hello Carmen and Dan,
I was reading a bit on the internet because I also made the enquire for this B&B. But now I read that it is exclusively for women? Is this true?
Thanks for your fast reply!!
